Touch Tour: The Body Speaks: was a unique sharing of research and development led by Kate Lawrence, Karina Jones, Alex Ashcroft and Mish, focusing on sensory engagement. Devised in collaboration with performers Gwen Thomson, Lisa Spaull, Kseniia Fedorovykh, Angharad Price Jones, Neil Williams and developed from interviews with Chris Tally Evans and Gwen Thomson.
Touch Tour was presented as part of a free event Out of Sight, dedicated to exploring creative approaches to access with and for visually impaired people at Pontio in Bangor in 2024. It was funded by Arts Council of Wales.
What evolved was a new methodology for exploring and creating different approaches to communicating live performance and making visual imagery tangible to senses other than sight. Mish has carried this creative exploration into her on-going design work, specifically for ‘Mummy, what is wrong with that man’s legs?’ with Johnny Leitch and Tilly Lee-Kronick, where the focus is on access.
